A Mothers Boutique is a woman owned and operated business. We are the only independently owned store of our kind in the greater Pittsburgh area!
My son was born in July 2005. After a 4-month maternity leave, I went back to work and survived for nearly 1 year working in corporate America before I decided that the long hours in the office and the out-of-town travel associated with my job were too much for me. In October 2006, I quit my corporate job to stay home with my son.
After a few months of being at home, I decided that I wanted to help other new mothers to breastfeed. Breastfeeding isn't always as easy as one might expect - and I wanted to help as many new mothers as possible to be successful in their efforts to breastfeed their babies.
When I was a new mother, I had a difficult time finding quality nursing clothing and products that would enable me to be successful at breastfeeding. I realized that this "unmet need" that I felt was also something that many other mothers also experienced. Coming from a business background, I decided this was something that I could use my corporate skills to develop a solution for. I realized that I would be able to meet my personal goals of spending more time with my son, while achieving professional goals of helping other new mothers succeed with breastfeeding. This led me to start up A Mother's Boutique.
A Mothers Boutique is focused on helping new mothers breastfeed by providing all of the tools that new mothers need in one convenient location. From nursing tops to bathing suits to bras and breast pumps - A Mothers Boutique carries everything that a new mother needs. I have selected the highest quality and most functional items (as well as many of my own personal favorites!) from several different designers to make sure that mothers shopping here get the best selection available. Based on my experience as a working mother, a stay-at-home mother, a work-at-home mother and now a one-woman-retail-and-internet-store-operation, I have chosen items that will work for different kinds of mothers who are in different personal and professional parts of motherhood. I have chosen stylish business wear for the mother who is pumping at work or meeting her baby at lunch for nursing as well as comfortable casual wear for mothers who are on the go. I have also made sure to include stylish casual and dress wear for all types of occasions - for dressing up and dressing down.
In October of 2008, I started a blog as a way of supporting all of the moms out there having babies. My blog, Mommy News and Views, has great parenting and breastfeeding advice. And even a section where you can write in with your own breastfeeding questions. In 2010 - I opened a retail store in Wexford, PA in the North Hills of Pittsburgh - Please stop by to visit! Hours and information about the store can be found here. You can also find me on twitter (@MommyNews), Pinterest (@MommyNews) and on facebook! Please stop by and say "hi" if you are on twitter, pinterest or facebook.
I ran this company all by myself for years and years - and it has grown into such a beautiful venture. I am blessed to have a great team to work with now, so I'd like to introduce you to a wonderful team of ladies who help me to make A Mothers Boutique what it is. Read more about my team here.
